Walking on moonlight

Relationships are one thing, but when it comes to shoe wear, I can make no compromises. There are many thoughts popping out of my head when I consider my next purchase – does this product harm the environment? Who produces it and how? Is it going to contribute to my wellbeing or not? Shopping for me resembles the game of chess: I have to be extra cautious by trying to predict my opponent’s move.

Slow fashion is my preference in the fast-pacing world. I usually choose shoes that are made with quality (and, of course, love). Price does not matter as long as I recognise the potential of wearing them with pride in the next five years.

My most recent purchase was from an online cruelty-free brand called KOI Footwear. I bought long black boots with embroidered suns and moons in a bumblebee colour. I associate the whole look with a cold, starry night – not like Van Gogh’s, but magnificent in its own way. The boots are made with faux leather, which contributes to the total dramatic, unearthly expression. I simply cannot go to the local shop with them – they deserve so much more than that! Don’t we all?
